Punjab’s Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz, is ready to kick off an unprecedented initiative aimed at empowering the province’s budding entrepreneurs. The visionary leader has introduced a groundbreaking Youth Business Loan Scheme of 1 crore to support ambitious young individuals and students in establishing their own businesses after completing their education.

In a groundbreaking move, Chief Registrar Maryam Nawaz launched the 1 crore loan business program. This initiative provides young individuals with the opportunity to obtain loans up to Rs 10 million for their desired business ventures, without relying on their parents’ financial support.

Honhaar Scholarships: 100% Merit-Based Opportunities for Bright Students
The Honhaar Scholarships have been officially launched by Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister of Punjab. During the launch, Maryam Nawaz Sharif personally handed out the scholarships to deserving students. Emphasizing that the recipients were chosen solely on merit, she stated that their background or origins did not play a role in the selection process. In her words, everyone was treated equally and awarded scholarships based on their abilities.
Scholarships are open to students from both public and private universities, as well as those attending medical colleges. The application process is fair and transparent, making all applicants eligible regardless of their background.
Over 70,000 Applications Received for Scholarship Scheme
The Honhar Scholarships sparked a remarkable reaction and garnered 70,000 applications from students across the province. After careful selection, 30,000 deserving applicants were chosen. The response was particularly strong in various regions of Punjab, including South, North, and Central Punjab, showcasing students’ enthusiasm for such initiatives.
As per the government’s allotment for Punjab, 32% of scholarships are allocated to South Punjab, 24% to North Punjab, and 42% to Central Punjab in proportion to their respective populations.
18,000 Scholarships For Female Students
According to Maryam Nawaz Sharif, despite their abilities, female students are not given adequate resources and facilities. To address this issue, the Honhaar scholarship program aims to distribute 18,000 scholarships to female students and 12,000 to male students.
The decision was made in recognition of women’s right to pursue higher education and career advancement on equal footing with male students. Furthermore, it was emphasized that we must not discriminate in education based on gender. This innovative initiative aims to bridge the gender gap in education by offering equal opportunities to all students, regardless of their gender.

The police forces conferred a Guard of Honor upon accomplished students. Subsequently, Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed that this scholarship is not bestowed by the government as a favor, but rather as a recognition of their merit and diligence, and their entitlement.
