Ugandan Officials Brief on Transparent BISP Funds Distribution Process – 8171 Update

BISP Transparency Mechanism Brief for Uganda
A 21-member Ugandan delegation led by Secretary of Public Service Lucy Nakyobe Mbonye concluded its four-day study tour of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).
The tour aimed to learn more about BISP’s social protection experiences. During the tour, the team was given thorough briefings on Pakistan’s socioeconomic background and BISP’s activities. These briefings covered the BISP National Socio-Economic Registry (NSER), the Unconditional and Conditional Cash Transfer (UCT and CCT) programs, and the organization’s development since 2008.
Furthermore, they saw how BISP used the NSER for adaptive social protection after the floods of 2022 and COVID-19.
Delegation Also Visited Dynamic Registration & Nashonuma Centers
The group also visited the BISP Dynamic Registration Center in Murree and the Nashonuma Health Facilitation Center in Murree to see field activities, including real-time NSER updates.
The company’s effective digital payment system, dynamic registration, and focused outreach were praised by Lucy Nakyobe Mbonye, who thanked the management for their hospitality and assistance.

She emphasized the value of stakeholder collaboration in enhancing Uganda’s social protection system to be more inclusive, transparent, and effective in reducing poverty.
BISP Secretary Amer Ali Ahmad congratulated the Ugandan group on their successful study visit and hoped that the Ugandan government would adopt these lessons learned to improve its social protection programs.
