In a conference recently, Prime Minister Shabaz Sharif announced a three-month relief for lifeline electricity users whose monthly usage does not exceed 200 units. Here is the latest update for all electricity consumers in Pakistan. This has been funded with a budget of 50 billion dollars.

Three Months Relief for 200 Units Electricity Consumers – Latest Update

As part of his live conference with the media on 9 July 2024, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shabaz Sharif announced a big announcement for the people of Pakistan so that they would not feel alone in this difficult phase of high electricity bills. For three months, the government will provide 25% discount to electrical lifeline customers. The government’s relief will affect 25 million people nationwide.

From July to September, 200-unit electricity consumers will receive Rs50 billion in relief

According to Prime Minister Shehbaz, the package will offer relief to approximately 25 million domestic consumers who fall under the protected category, up to Rs7 per unit, for three months ending in September.

“Today, Rs 50 billion has been set aside to give our protected category customers who use up to 200 units per month for three months, from July to September, a concession of Rs 4 to 7 per unit.”

The initiative will benefit about 25 million domestic power users, or 94% of the total customer base.

Providing Relief to the Consumers of Electricity in Summers

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the development fund would be used to pay for these fifty billion rupees to help the average person.

According to him, the summer months are the most challenging, and when the weather improves in October, electricity usage decreases.

Prime Minister Assured The Further Relief for People

To fulfill its commitment to provide public relief, he said, the federal government has eliminated the previously mentioned amount from its development budget.

As part of the government’s efforts to close non-performing enterprises, tax the wealthy, expand the tax base, and plug financial leaks, Shehbaz promised more relief to the populace.
