Sindh offers free solar power to 2.6 million off-grid households
Sindh’s chief minister, Murad Ali Shah, announced the government’s latest plans to provide free electricity to users of up to 100 units and solar power equipment to off-grid families. In the speech, it is stated that 2.6 million off-grid households will benefit from this program, which will initially enroll 500,000 people.

Shah spoke with Adviser Ahsan Mazari, Energy Secretary Musaddiq Khan, Principal Secretary Agha Wasif, Chief Secretary Asif Haider Shah, and Energy Minister Nasir Hussain Shah during a meeting at the Chief Minister’s House in Karachi on Friday.
In the first phase, 500,000 homes will receive solar systems!
2.6 million off-grid homes are expected to be equipped with solar home systems (SHS), with 500,000 homes being covered in the first phase.

Across six divisions, Shah proposed establishing six microgrids, each 75 kilowatts, serving 100 households. Each grid would provide 100 kilowatts of power to homes.
Additionally, he proposed setting up three solar parks of 305 megawatts each to supply K-Electric, HESCO, and SEPCO.
