Lady Aitchison and Mayo Hospitals launch Advanced Healthcare | CM Inaugurates
The other initiative of Maryam Nawaz has been to provide assistance to the poor and deserving. As part of this initiative, CM Punjab has introduced some of the most significant health reforms at Lady Aitchison and Mayo hospitals. These reforms include many upgrades as well as the addition of additional facilities.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif opened the expanded OPD at Lady Aitchison Hospital and the upgraded eye unit at Mayo Hospital on Monday.
Maryam Nawaz Visits to Lady Aitchison and Mayo Hospitals
She visited the OPD, Consultant OPD, Antenatal Clinic, Nursing Office, and Triage Room at Lady Aitchison Hospital, and asked how a mother and child in the ward were doing. Seeing the CMs among themselves made the patients and their attendants rejoice. Maryam Nawaz Sharif offered compassion to the young children and wished them a long life. On her lap, she was nursing an infant.

CM Launches Ophthalmology Ward Upgrade, Pledges Prompt Solutions for Patients
Additionally, she provided comfort to a patient in the ward and directed the appropriate parties to quickly address their concern. As per the requests of physicians and nurses, she also captured photographs. Subsequently, the CM made an appearance at Mayo Hospital’s Ophthalmology Ward for the official unveiling of the renovation initiative. She toured multiple rooms within the Ophthalmology Block to evaluate the quality of construction. Furthermore, she inspected various amenities available for patients, such as the surgical theater, CSSD sterilization facility, and outpatient department.
CM was briefed on the upgrade project by secretary of communications and works Sohail Ashraf. There are now fourteen operating rooms on the ophthalmology ward, instead of the previous five. Patients and their companions can also use the waiting area and recovery room.

CM unveils new generators, lifts, and operation theaters
Also, the CM was informed that the refurbished Eye Ward at Mayo Hospital has been upgraded with lifts and new generators for patient use. She was informed of upgrades made to Lady Aitchison Hospital’s first, second, and ground floors. Semi-modular operating theaters have been installed at Lady Aitchison OPD.

According to Secretary C&W, epoxy floors and antimicrobial paint were installed in Lady Aitchison OPD as part of the upgrade. Having followed the cost-effectiveness philosophy, the OPD Block and Eye Ward have been updated to include the latest medical technology as well as other necessities.
The provincial health ministers, Drs. Asad Aslam and Mahmood Ayaz of King Edward Medical College, Imran Nazir and Salman Rafiq, as well as Secretary of Health Ali Jan Khan were present.
