Why There is an increase of 5.75 Rs per Unit for K-Electric Consumers

As a result of fuel price increases for May and June 2024, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has increased electricity rates for Karachi consumers by Rs5.75 per unit. On October and November, electricity bills will be higher for Karachi customers.

As per the NEPRA notification, the monthly fuel cost adjustment process has resulted in an increase in power pricing of Rs3.16 per unit for June and Rs2.59 per unit for May.

Consumers except for EVCS and Lifeline users will see a rate increase from NEPRA

The new fees apply to all customers, except lifeline customers and electric vehicle charging stations (EVCS), and are separately itemized on each month’s bill. NEPRA has also released a detailed ruling on this change.
