8171 Nashonuma Update: BISP Signs UNICEF And WHO Agreements

Through Vital Nutrition and Financial Support, the 8171 Ehsaas Program helps all eligible households and women nationwide. Under the Benazir Income Support Program, BISP has signed two separate agreements with two international organizations: UNICEF and WHO to extend its support and provide more essentials to beneficiaries.

BISP has signed two separate agreements with UNICEF and the WHO to combat malnutrition and improve the health of mothers and children in Pakistan under the Benazir Nashonuma Programme.

This agreement has been signed between these organizations to provide unconditional support to the affected children and mothers through nutritional foods and supplements. To eliminate stunted growth among children and weak women, a wide survey has been conducted throughout poor regions in Pakistan to register beneficiaries of the Benazir Nashonuma Program.
What are The Importance of Agreements Made With BISP?
Additionally, Luo Dapeng from WHO, Abdullah Fadil from UNICEF, and Secretary Amer Ali Ahmad from BISP have signed the agreements. The partnership aims to raise community awareness and provide lifesaving nutrition assistance to impacted moms and children.
In an official statement released on Tuesday, UNICEF announced that the agreement will provide Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) for the treatment of Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) and Social Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC).
75,000 severely malnourished children to be treated by WHO
As part of the agreement with WHO, District Headquarters Hospitals (DHQs) would oversee stabilization centers at the district level throughout the nation. These centers would provide specialized care for children suffering from SAM.
The WHO official stated, “We are honored to be working with BISP to provide evidence-based interventions aimed at protecting, supporting, and promoting breastfeeding as a critical strategy to prevent stunting, as well as providing life-saving treatment to 75,000 severely acutely malnourished children with medical complications.”
Recovering people will receive full support from UNICEF
Under an agreement with the Benazir Nashonuma Program, UNICEF will provide nutritional support to malnourished and poor children registered in Pakistan.
The UNICEF representative said children living in underprivileged communities and homes must be given priority when it comes to nutrition and social protection programs so that they can thrive and realize their full potential.

This agreement with the international organizations was so overwhelming to the BISP Secretary General that he declared it a historic occasion and a major step forward for BISP.
