In Benazir Nashonuma, the World Food Programme (WFP) is the primary setting up partner. As part of the program, BISP beneficiary families will receive Rs 2,000 for male children and PKR 2,500 for female children every quarter to reduce stunting in PLW and their under-two-year-old children.
To receive this benefit, women are required to eat specialized nutritious food (SNF), to take their unborn children for routine checkups and vaccinations, and to attend prenatal health checkups and awareness seminars.
Malnutrition is the second highest in Pakistan
In Pakistan, where there are significant rates of malnutrition (40.2% stunting, 28.9% underweight, and 17.7% wasting), there is a persistent child nutrition crisis.
A child’s first 1,000 days of life offer a unique opportunity to lay a solid foundation for future success. Due to these levels of malnutrition, Pakistan is the second-highest burden country in the region.
